Custom shelving systems – gravity flow, FIFO and karakuri racks
Gravity flow and FIFO racks built to fit from a modular tube system
Enprag shelving systems are built from the steel tubes of a modular system to fit your space and the material you store – from a 1850 mm high shelf rack with a load capacity of 300 kg to flow rack trolleys with inclined shelves 1000–1700 mm wide. The tubes come with a wall thickness of 1 or 2 mm, in ESD and stainless steel versions, with frames in grey, red, blue or stainless steel. The racks belong to the modular systems – construction and application category.
Flow rack and FIFO rack: how does picking from inclined shelves work?
A flow rack moves crates towards the picking point by gravity, so material is always taken in FIFO order. Crate rack trolleys with inclined shelves from the SP series are 1000, 1300, 1500 or 1700 mm wide, 1438–1782 mm high and carry 300 kg, for example the crate rack trolley with 1000 mm wide inclined shelves SP10040; the smaller 24042530 carries 180 kg. Custom racks are fitted with roller tracks at a standard slope of 3°, which is adjusted to the weight and type of crate.
Karakuri gravity rack: feeding without an electric drive
A karakuri rack uses gravity and mechanical elements instead of a drive. The Karakuri rack 22071453 has a load capacity of 85 kg per level and holds 15 KLT crates; Enprag designs further karakuri applications to suit your crates and the takt time of your line.
Shelf racks, crate rack trolleys and tire stands
The Rack 21121510 measures 1850 × 963 × 603 mm and has 6 shelves made of 18 mm laminate board with a load capacity of 50 kg per shelf, 300 kg in total; the larger shelf rack 22110350 is 1900 mm high and 1505 mm wide. The crate rack trolley 24040231 carries 60 kg on each of its 3 shelves and runs on Ø 75 mm castors, 2 of them with brakes. ESD rack trolleys 964 and 1530 mm high are designed for electronics. The tire stand 24082633 holds 16"–20" tires on 3 shelves rated at 100 kg each and is anchored with 4 feet. You will find more mobile structures in the transport trolleys category.

Frequently asked questions
Does Enprag design flow racks for FIFO picking?
Yes, Enprag designs flow racks with roller tracks for FIFO picking; the standard track slope is 3° and is adjusted to the weight and type of crate, for KLT crates as well as cardboard boxes. You receive the 3D design free of charge before the quotation.
How do you keep a tall shelving rack stable?
For tall racks Enprag keeps the width-to-height ratio at 1 : 3 at most and designs tube system structures for a maximum deflection of 5 mm. The tire stand 24082633 is additionally anchored with 4 feet.
Can a return lane for empty crates be added to a flow rack?
Yes, Enprag places the return lane for empty crates above or below the picking level of the rack. Empty crates travel back to the source without an operator and the picking point stays clear.
What load capacity do custom shelving systems have?
Depending on the design, custom Enprag shelving systems carry up to several tonnes; the standard racks and trolleys in the range carry 180–300 kg, shelves 50–100 kg. Every structure comes with a dimensional drawing showing the maximum permissible load.
