The rail system as an investment in the future

Traditional storage practices that rely on pallet racking can often be limiting and insufficient. The rail system therefore offers an effective alternative to pallet racking that can radically change the way companies work.

What does this new system offer?

The rail system brings a wide range of advantages that significantly improve the efficiency and productivity of companies. Its implementation not only increases the flow and fluidity of material handling, but also significantly facilitates orientation in the warehouse and optimizes the use of available storage space.

Basic building elements

The rail system consists of several key elements that ensure its proper functionality. One of these elements is the monorail, which is used to precisely guide wheeled carts according to the FIFO (first in, first out) or LIFO (last in, first out) principle. The monorails are made of anodized aluminum and firmly attached to the floor, which ensures stable and precise control of the movement of the carriages. These rails are designed for wheel widths up to 40 mm and can be adjusted to the required length according to the customer's needs. Another important element is the run-in foot, which enables the smooth and reliable running of warehouse trucks into the monorail profile.

So-called "gallows" for Pick to Light navigation or electronic labels can also be part of the rail system solution. These elements enable modern tracking and labeling of goods within the warehouse space. In addition, there are two possible ways of attaching the rails to the floor - sticking with double-sided adhesive tape or screwing into pre-drilled holes.

The main advantages of the rail system

Maximization of storage space - thanks to the rail system, every bit of the storage area can be used, which minimizes losses caused by disorder and inappropriate arrangement of goods

Flexibility and adaptability – the system enables easy configuration changes according to customer needs and optimization for different types and sizes of materials or goods

The possibility of using Kanban and FIFO principles - the nature of the rail system makes it possible to apply Kanban and FIFO principles, i.e. storage and removal can be carried out at the same time

Clarity and better orientation in the warehouse - precisely defined positions of the trucks and the possibility of using modern Pick to Light navigation ensures better orientation in the warehouse and reduces the risk of errors

Variants of the hardware solution based on the type of navigation system

For successful and efficient warehouse management, it is crucial to choose the right hardware solution that best suits the needs of the business. There are different variants available that differ according to the type of navigation system they use.

Manual navigation (without software solution) - a basic solution that does not require a sophisticated software solution

Pick to Light navigation (including software solution) – pick to Light uses light navigation to identify and mark required items. The software controls the light indicators and provides clear instructions to workers

Pick to Light navigation + electronic displays (including software solution) – this option combines Pick to Light navigation with electronic displays that show additional information about products or orders

As part of the implementation and operation of the rail system, it is important to evaluate not only its benefits in specific numbers, but also to focus on the long-term impact on company processes. The system is not just a tool, but can become a key factor in achieving competitive advantage and maintaining long-term success in the market. Due to its ability to maximize storage space, increase the flow and fluidity of material handling, and improve orientation in the warehouse, a rail system represents an investment that has the potential to significantly affect the efficiency and performance of a business.
